Middle School Regional Competition

Registration for the 2027 regional competitions will open open Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12:00 noon Eastern time.

Please note: Registrations are based on the location of your school.
Please be sure to select the regional that is designated for your school’s state, county, city, or district.

A school may only participate in its assigned regional event in order to advance to the National Finals. In other words, a school may request to compete in a different regional event; however, the team will NOT qualify for the National Finals should the team win the competition.

For the Nationwide Virtual Regional Competitions: To qualifyfor a nationwide virtual regional competition, a team must not have placed in the top three at an NSB regional event within the past six years.

In addition, the team must meet one of the following criteria:

be located more than 200 miles from an in-person regional event
serve a rural community as designated by FORHP, or
be competing in NSB for the first time.
