National Nuclear Data Center Summer Students

The National Nuclear Data Center (NNDC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory hosted eight summer students this year. Six of the students participated in the U.S. Department of Energy's Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program, and two students participated in BNL’s High School Research Program.

A picture of the students and mentors can be seen below.  Standing from left to right are Libby McCutchan, Rishi Wadgaonkar, David Brown, Gustavo Nobre, Jeami Van Weele, Tunisia Solomon, Kati McKillop, Kayla Clements, Lauren Osojnak, Lauren King and Emily Gass.

David Brown is mentoring Lauren Osojnak from Vassar College on a project titled “Applying the ENDF/B-VIII.0 library to nuclear astrophysics,” and Rishi Wadgaonkar from G.W. Hewlett High School on “Statistical Properties of Neutron Resonances.” Libby McCutchan is mentoring Emily Gass from Stony Brook University, Lauren King from Seaford High School, and Kati McKillop from Hamilton College on “Gamma-ray spectroscopy of Medical Isotopes.” Libby is also mentoring Tunisia Solomon from the State University of New York at Farmingdale on “Evaluation of 238U Fission yields,” and Jeami Van Weele from St. Joseph’s College on “New Nuclear Wallet Cards.” Gustavo Nobre is mentoring Kayla Clements from the University of Florida on “Global Nuclear Reaction Data Library.”
