Heather DeArton, Coach
Coach Heather DeArton has been a teacher for fourteen years teaching everything from kindergarten to eighth grade.  Her favorite years have been spent as a K-5 science specialist at a northern California charter school and now as an eighth-grade math and science teacher in Mt. Shasta, California. Coach DeArton went to California Polytechnic in  San Luis Obispo. She is the daughter of a teacher mom and a scientist dad and loves sharing the joy of science with her students.

James DeArton
James DeArton is a seventh-grader whose favorite subject is recess. He also enjoys the multitudes of possibilities and infinite mysteries of our universe, namely astrophysics and astronomy. He is an avid follower of the latest developments in science and technology, and he hopes one day to be a part of one of those developments. That is, if his current career plan as a civil or architectural engineer does not pan out. Outside of academia, he enjoys the adventure of mountaineering and trail running. This is his first organized scientific competition, and he hopes he can come back in years to come.

Kaira Rekhi
Kaira Rekhi is an eighth-grader who's favorite subjects are math and science(chemistry). For fun she enjoys painting and playing sports, including softball, martial arts, snowboarding, and pickleball. Her favorite books are Hunger Games 1 and Pride and Prejudice. She loves swimming and camping/backpacking. Right now she thinks she wants to study medicine, but also wants to learn about philosophy, psychology, and Latin.  She has two dogs, a cat, and a bunch of chickens.  Kaira used to have ducks and a peacock but they were eaten by a bear.  She also has younger twin sisters.  Her favorite movies are Overcomer, anything Marvel, and the Lorax.  Some things on her bucket list are to hike the whole Pacific Coast Trail, go skydiving and bungee jumping, and visit Rome to see the Colosseum.

Rynn Cobb
Rynn Cobb is an eighth-grader who enjoys biology, chemistry, and being in nature. Her favorite classes in school are science and English. She plans to go to Oregon State University in Bend, to become a physical therapist. Outside of academics, she loves to bake and cook for family events. Her favorite animal is a cat. She loves plants, reading, coffee, spending time with family, and she hopes to one day travel with her best friends.

Emily Pigoni
Emily Pigoni is a seventh-grade student whose favorite subject is biology. Her hobbies are sports, creative things, and learning more about the human body. Her future plans are to be accepted into a university and go into the medical field, specifically women's health/obstetrics and gynecology. Emily enjoys fishing in Alaska with her family, baking, and vanilla oat milk.

Dane Harrison
Dane Harrison is a seventh-grader whose favorite subjects are math and science. He loves playing soccer with his friends, skiing, and baking cookies. He hopes to someday become a marine biologist and do everything he can to help with ocean pollution. He is a twin, and the only boy of four children.
