Phillip Hayhurst, Coach
Coach Phillip Hayhurst has been teaching science at Ridgeview Classical Charter School for the past ten years. He currently teaches seventh grade science, eighth grade science, and high school earth science. Aside from these classes, Coach Hayhurst has taught high school physics and chemistry, sixth grade science, elementary and middle school math, composition, and he has co-taught a high school elective on astrobiology. Coach Hayhurst’s interests include (but are by no means limited to) amateur astronomy, rock hounding, winter and summer alpine sports, and classical literature. Mr. Hayhurst holds a master's degree in geoscience from Mississippi State University and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Even though a teacher is not supposed to have favorites, his favorite science is geology. Coach Hayhurst and his wife have a ninth-grade daughter and a sixth-grade son.

Emerson is an eighth-grade student at Ridgeview Classical Charter School. He refers to Randall Munroe's book "What If?" almost daily. He also has some suggestions for future editions.

Henry Binder
Henry is a sixth- grade student at Ridgeview Classical Charter School. Henry's favorite shape is Pascal's triangle.

Peter Walton
Peter is an eighth-grade student at Ridgeview Classical Charter School. While moving through the halls, a significant portion of Peter's inertia comes from quantum physics books in his backpack.

Mateo Dunigan-Atlee
Mateo is an eighth-grade student at Ridgeview Classical Charter School. Mateo can both make music and describe the science behind the sound wave phenomena in the same concert.
