Maria Ortiz, Coach
Coach María Ortiz  attended college at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. She also completed a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Cornell University. After graduation, she worked for Bell Labs as a Test Engineer. She moved back to Puerto Rico to work in manufacturing. She was professor at the Polytechnic University in San Juan.  Coach Ortiz started work at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in 2014, where she has taught physical science and physics. María has been the Science Fair Coordinator and has also served as advisor for the Science Club. Coach Ortiz has been married to Jorge Díaz for the past 33 years and is the proud mother of two. María serves in the music ministry at her parish, where she is also a member of the Pastoral Council.

Javier Rovira
Javier Rovira is an eighth-grader. He attends Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola, and his favorite classes are history, math, and science. He participates in the science club and helps with the administration department in school. After he graduates from high school, he hopes to become a director or screenwriter. In his free time, Javier enjoys reading, writing, riding his bicycle and playing online games.

Ricardo Rovira
Ricardo Rovira is an eighth-grade student. His favorite classes are science and history, more specifically, world history and biology. Ricardo has developed a new interest in surgery, and has always been interested in politics. He plays volleyball and occasionally plays beach volleyball with his friends.

Jean Paul Rodríguez
Jean Paul Rodriguez is an eighth-grade student at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola. He plays almost every single sport for fun, but mainly plays soccer for the school team and a separate club. He likes playing video games with his friends (mainly sports games). All his life he has enjoyed social studies and math class, now his interest in science is growing because he joined the science club. He still does not know what career he wants to pursue, but he is interested in the medical field. Some facts about Jean Paul are that he prefers being alone rather than having lots of people around, he thinks Breaking Bad is the best TV series of all time, his dream vacation places are Iceland and Japan, and music is his favorite thing in the world.

Sebastián Rangel
Sebastian Rangel is an eighth-grader whose favorite classes are math, science and history. He is a member of the Model United Nations club in his school. In his free time, he plays online games and practices volleyball. He has participated in many academic competitions such as the Extreme Technology Challenge (2019) and the Mathematical Olympics of Puerto Rico. He is very savvy with computers and hopes to pursue a career in programming or computer engineering.

Alejandro Gierbolini
Alejandro Gierbolini is an eighth-grader whose favorite subjects are math and science. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends. Alejandro also plays beach volleyball every week. He has a passion for editing, and enjoys volunteering at the Pediatric Diabetes Foundation of Puerto Rico. After graduating from high school, Alejandro would like to study marketing and communications.
