Hunter College High School

Min Hsuan Kuo (Coach)
Coach Min-Hsuan Kuo has been teaching physical science and chemistry at Hunter College High School since 2014. Coach Kuo has a background in chemical engineering and received her undergraduate degree from The Cooper Union and her doctoral degree from Columbia University. Her Ph.D. work focused on the interactions between snow/ice and trace chemicals in the atmosphere, which have an impact on atmospheric composition and climate. After completing her doctorate, Coach Kuo decided to devote her efforts to education and share her passion for science with future scientists like her lovely Science Bowl team. Her current favorite leisure activity is crocheting molecules and other creatures that she can bring to class to educate and entertain her students.

Cecelia Pierce Haider
Cecelia Haider (Pierce) is a junior whose favorite subjects are chemistry and earth science. She participates in many science clubs at her school, including Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, and a number of science publications. Recently, Pierce co-founded The Precipice, a magazine dedicated to spreading awareness about climate science in today’s world, and won the 2021 American Scholastic Association Award for Most Outstanding Private School Magazine. She is currently researching urban metagenomics at the Weill Cornell School of Medicine. Outside of academics, she plays ice hockey for Ironbound Elite 19U Premier, a top thirty girls’ travel team based out of Newark, New Jersey. Pierce is also a member of Hunter’s varsity swim and lacrosse teams. This is her third time at the National Science Bowl Finals, and she is excited to return with her teammates (and hopefully, new team mascot).

Adi (Vidur) Jasuja
Adi Vidur Jasuja is a senior interested in math, physics, and computer science. While being mostly focused on STEM, he also enjoys history and music -- he plays the saxophone. He is a captain of his school's math team, and has participated in both the USA Junior Mathematics Olympiad and  USA Math Olympiad, winning an honorable mention in the former. In his free time, he enjoys running and playing soccer.

Logan Reich
Logan Reich is a sophomore who is passionate about science and math in general, and is especially partial to astronomy and earth science. His favorite classes are chemistry and math. He is also building captain of his school’s Science Olympiad team, winning a variety of awards, and holds editorial positions at several of his school’s science and math magazines. In addition, he has qualified for many selective programs, including the US Earth Science Organization’s Training Camp, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's  LLCIPHER program. He also volunteers at the Museum of Math. In his free time, Logan enjoys cooking, reading sci-fi, and designing and building model rockets.

Daniel Shneider
Daniel Shneider is a twelfth-grade senior interested in biology and earth science. He enjoys Science Olympiad, writing for the science magazine he runs with two of his friends, and Ocean Bowl where he sometimes makes terrible jokes. He is sorry that you were salty about his jokes, but you will have to be a bit more Pacific about which one. Outside of school, he enjoys running, learning about art and mythology, and reading sci-fi. Over the summer, he has worked on a project using climate data to predict long-term trends in arsenic in rice. In college, he hopes to study biology, earth science, and art history to develop synthetic biology solutions towards fixing the problems posed by climate change but wants to make educational videos in the meantime about random stuff that no one finds interesting but him. He is excited for the National Science Bowl but will be missing the soft-serve ice cream at the Clover Café.

Hao Wang
Hao Wang is a junior whose favorite subjects are math and physics. He has actively participated in his school’s science and math clubs since middle school and has competed in Science Olympiad since ninth grade. He also enjoys fencing and chess, and loves reading and playing video games in his free time. After high school, he wishes to continue his studies in physics and chemistry. Due to his obsession with food, he does not mind pursuing a career in culinary arts, either.
