Dr. Tasia Bryson
Dr. Tasia Bryson joined the Office of Nuclear Physics in 2023 as an AAAS fellow serving as Program Manager.Prior to joining the Office of Nuclear Physics, Dr. Bryson was the Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the University of Massachusetts – Boston with the I CAN PERSIST STEM Initiative. Additionally, she has eleven years of experience working with underrepresented minority (URM) students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Her work has included both undergraduate and graduate students at two-year and four-year institutions, and Predominantly Black Institutions and Predominantly White Institutions. Through her engagement with various federal funded grants, she has designed and implemented initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of URMs majoring in STEM.
Dr. Bryson received a Ph.D. in Science Education at the Mallinson Institute of Science Education at Western Michigan University. She earned her Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and her Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry with a Biochemistry Option from Chicago State University. Her research focuses on the impact of the advisor/advisee relationship among underrepresented students in science graduate programs. Specifically, she focuses on how and why minorities in STEM doctoral programs select their advisors and their perceptions of the advisor/advisee relationship.
