Grants
The High Energy Physics Program funds mission-related grants to universities for particle physics research. The program covers two major areas: physics research and advanced technology R&D.
Physics research includes experiments at accelerator facilities that utilize particle beams and detectors, non-accelerator experiments that utilize stand-alone detectors, R&D toward such experiments and theoretical physics. Advanced technology R&D provides grants for research and engineering development to establish the feasibility of the technologies required to build accelerator and storage rings for future particle physics research.
The program funds grants at more than 100 universities across the nation. Special funding opportunities also exist, including the Advanced Detector Research Program, Dark Energy R&D Program, and Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) R&D Program.
