Brown

Dr. Brown is the Program Manager for Physical Biosciences in the Chemical Sciences, Geosciences and Biosciences Division of the Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Science, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Prior to joining the DOE in 2022, Dr. Brown was a Scientist in the Biosciences center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Co. Dr. Brown’s research focused on understanding energy flow in biological systems and how biology has refined charge transfer, catalysis, and kinetics to manage energy flow. While at NREL, she conducted research on the biochemistry of peripheral redox reactions of photosynthesis, as well as the synthesis and characterization of semiconductor nanoparticle enzyme biohybrid complexes, successfully developing light-driven biohybrids of nanoparticles coupled to energy relevant enzymes.

Education:
Postdoctoral Research, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 2008 - 2011
Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2008
B.A. in Chemistry, Reed College, 2000
