Dr. Krause was the team lead for the Fundamental Interactions team in the Chemical Sciences, Geosciences, and Biosciences Division of the Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Science, U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Krause retired in 2021.

His research interests include quantum control of atomic and molecular systems, ultrafast spectroscopy, energy transfer in extended systems, and molecular electronics. Dr. Krause is a fellow of the American Physical Society. He was a Fulbright Teacher/Scholar in Denmark, a Cottrell Scholar of Research Corporation, and received a Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Krause is the author of approximately 100 peer-reviewed articles, and is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Physical Society, and Sigma Xi.
