About

Located in Richland, Washington, the Pacific Northwest Site Office (PNSO) provides programmatic, operational, and institutional stewardship and oversight of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in support of the Department’s science and technology programs, goals, and objectives.

We oversee the current DOE-Battelle Prime Contract for the Management and Operation of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with our goal being to provide excellence in Laboratory contract administration through effective management systems and act as the agent for laboratory’s federal steward, the DOE Office of Science, and the other Federal organizations that utilize the Laboratory.  In this capacity we provide support to the Department’s development of long-term vision and strategy for the laboratory. Our goal is to be a benchmark site office and provide thought leadership to the Office of Science.

We enable contractor success through the use of a performance based contract vehicle, managed to commercial standards, and administered through strategic partnerships with the contractor, delivering optimal Laboratory success into the future. We work together with the senior executives and program staff of the Office of Science to create an environment where the best science in the world is performed safely. This is achieved by evaluating risks and determining the best way to mitigate them while still accomplishing the mission of the laboratory.

The PNSO Team is proud of its role in partnering with PNNL to deliver world-class science but is equally proud of the Team's community involvement and support of STEM education. PNSO staff devote many hours a year in service to their community and to their neighbors through volunteerism for local charities.
