Overview
The Physical Scientist will serve as a Program Manager for Scientific User Facilities (SUF) within the Office of Basic Energy Sciences Scientific User Facilities Division (BES SUF) in Germantown, MD. BES supports fundamental research to understand, predict, and ultimately control matter and energy at the electronic, atomic, and molecular levels, providing the foundations for new energy technologies and supporting DOE missions in energy, environment, and national security. The SUF Division supports basic research related to scientific user facilities and technical oversight for facility operations.

The Program Manager will be providing scientific and programmatic expertise to support the full breadth of division programs. Activities include program management: As part of the team for BES user facility operations and construction program; In support of BES-wide funding opportunity announcements; Review/drafting of budget documents; Execution of proposal peer reviews (including for the SUF SBIR/STTR program); Scientific communication including technical review of press releases, technical content for brochures, technical updates for the SUF website, and research highlights; Participation in facility construction reviews including Major Items of Equipment; and Planning, execution, and report generation for BES-SUF workshops and roundtables. Physical Scientists with expertise in the disciplines related to research performed at x-ray, neutron, and/or nanoscale science research facilities are preferred.
