The Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) (https://science.osti.gov/WDTS) of the Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Interdisciplinary Program Manager (GS-0801/1301-13/14/15) position to serve as a Program Manager for STEM workforce development programs.

The position is critical to sustain STEM workforce development programs for the Office of Science. Ensuring the delivery of best-in-class workforce development programs through rigorous assessment and evidence-based management in DOE science and technology areas is important to fulfill the future scientific and technological workforce needs in support of the DOE Office of Science mission and maintain U.S. leadership in innovation and discovery science.

The Interdisciplinary Program Manager will serve as an expert to lead evidence-based evaluation and development in support of WDTS mission and programs. Major duties include program planning and execution, evaluation portfolio management, development of data-driven measures of outcomes and impacts to support programming and improvement for evolving future workforce needs, coordination with multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary groups, and advancement of diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility in WDTS programs. 

This position requires training and knowledge in physical sciences or engineering areas supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and familiarity with the research portfolio supported by DOE’s Office of Science (https://science.osti.gov/Programs). Applicants must have demonstrated competence in evaluation and assessment pertaining to education and workforce development in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Applicants must have skills of extracting meaningful insights from data to support workforce training program management and experience working with federal government policies and requirements for handling data and evaluation, including Institutional Review Board (IRB), Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), and Open Science.
