Career Skills after a PhD
Video
About
Outside of being a well-rounded scientist, there are several other skills needed to have a prosperous post graduate career that are not typically considered during undergraduate/graduate study. Join us for a webinar featuring four fantastic scientists that have harnessed their skills outside the lab to successfully found companies, create research groups, and facilitate science on a national scale. This webinar is free and open to the public.
Speakers
Dr. Aurora Clark is a professor in the department of chemistry at the University of Utah. Her research employs both quantum and statistical mechanics to study chemical processes in extreme and complex chemical environments, with an emphasis upon solution chemistry and liquid interfaces. She has pioneered new theoretical approaches for data fusion and analysis within molecular simulations in high performance computing environments.
Dr. Niranjan (Niri) Govind is a member of the Chemical Physics Theory Group in the Physical Sciences Division at PNNL. He is a theoretician and works broadly in chemical physics, X-ray spectroscopies, ultrafast photoinduced chemical phenomena, and the development of electronic structure methods. He is also a member of the NWChem core development team at PNNL and has a cross-appointment at the University of Washington, Seattle.
Dr. Dava Keavney is Program Manager in the Scientific User Facilities Division of Basic Energy Sciences (BES), with a primary responsibility for the five X-ray facilities in BES’s portfolio. She began her career as a postdoc at Argonne National Laboratory and later as an instrument scientist at Argonne’s Advanced Photon Source.
Dr. Mrignayani Kotecha is a founding member and CEO of O2M Technologies, LLC. She leads business strategy, execution, and development while maintaining the company’s unique culture of innovation in the field of EPR imaging, instrumentation, spin-probes, and its applications to biomedical problems in cancer, neurology, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
