Physics Whiz: NIU Ph.D. Student Wins Dept. of Energy Graduate Student Research Award

From November through August, Blake Burghgrave will receive monthly stipends totaling more than $30,000 to conduct research for his dissertation at Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island, N.Y. The highly competitive award is given to students who have the potential to make important contributions to the mission of the DOE Office of Science.

Robert Harrison Named Chief Architect of DOE National Project to Bolster High-Performance Computing for Energy Applications

Robert Harrison, Director of Stony Brook University’s Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), has been named the chief architect of a national effort funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to improve the scale, performance, accessibility and portability of high-performance computational chemistry.
