  3. Please note the following regarding the required RESA Area local preliminary competition:
    • HS teams must register to and participate in the specific local preliminary competition with respect to the former RESA Area in which their school is located.
    • If three or fewer HS teams from a former RESA Area register to participate in their respective local preliminary competition, those teams will receive an automatic invitation to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition.
    • In a single RESA Area local preliminary competition involving more than three teams, the top three winning teams will receive and invitation to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition, with at least the fourth-place winning team recorded for possible random selection to advance as an alternate participant. If fewer than three teams from a single RESA Area local preliminary competition register to participate, the remaining slots to receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS Science Bowl competition will be filled by choosing at random an alternate team(s) from other single RESA Area local preliminary competitions.
    • In a combined (2 RESA Areas) RESA Area local preliminary competition comprised of more than three teams from each of two former RESA Areas, teams from schools in one RESA Area may compete against teams from schools in another RESA Area. However, the top three winning teams from each of the two RESA Areas will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition, with the fourth-place winning teams from each RESA Area recorded for possible random selection to advance as alternate participants. If fewer than three teams from a combined RESA Area local preliminary competition register to participate, the remaining slots to receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition will be filled by choosing at least the first alternate team from the other RESA Area in that combined competition.
  4. Eligibility to compete in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition will be open to up to 24 total teams.
  5. No more than two HS teams from a single school will be accepted to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition.
  6. Invitations to participate in the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition will come directly from the WVSB Coordinators following the RESA Area local preliminary competitions.

WVSB Coordinators may conduct the 2020 WVSB Regional HS competition with an incomplete field.
