Symposium on Tools for R&D Decision Making

symposium

April 2, 2020, 10:30AM to 2:30PM
Forrestal Building, Room 1E-245
1000 Independence Ave. SW, Washington, DC

Federal R&D agencies need effective tools for analysis of past investments and for placement of future investments. Such tools are often covered under the umbrella of “portfolio analysis and management.” This program will feature needs, strategies, and tools used by several federal agencies to assess the impacts and results of past R&D investments; to identify trends and potential areas of collaboration; and to support strategic decision making for long-term funding requests. Presenters will demonstrate the types of data needed for effective tools and examples of the questions being answered by these tools. The program will include a detailed discussion of the latest research on visualization tools, featuring Dr. Katy Börner, Professor of Information Science at Indiana University.
