Dr. Sennett received the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. He served as a Research Chemist at the US Army Research Laboratory studying polymerization kinetics and the surface chemistry of adhesives, and introduced the use of computational chemistry to the Army’s materials science program. He later joined the Research and Development division of ABIOMED Inc., where he developed materials for use in implantable medical devices, including the artificial heart. He re-entered government service in the Materials Nanotechnology group at the US Army’s Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center where he led projects studying the properties of nanostructured materials and nanocomposites with relevance to applications in personnel protection. Dr. Sennett then joined the US Army International Technology Center Atlantic, stationed in London, where he served as Chief Scientist with responsibility for promoting international collaboration with the US Army R&D enterprise. He assumed the duties of Materials Chemistry Program Manager at BES in July 2011. He is the author or co-author of 7 U.S. Patents and over 40 publications.
