Dr. Davenport joined the Materials Sciences and Engineering Division in 2011 after many years at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he served as Director of the Computational Science Center, Chair of the Department of Applied Science, and Associate Chair of the Physics Department.

He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and served as Chair of the Division of Materials Physics. He is co-author on more than 110 publications in areas such as density functional theory, electronic structure of metallic alloys, first principles molecular dynamics, hydrogen ab/adsorption, photoemission, and inverse photoemission.
